December is a time of reflection. Fittingly, memories of age-old tradition and festivity were aplenty at Barbican Hall, with Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra continuing their "Roots and Origins" traverse by presenting works inspired by folk tunes and dances.
